The Compostable Solution to Double Bagging

In many countries, there is a tradition of using very thin plastic grocery bags. One reason is to reduce plastic waste. However, as these bags often tend to be rather weak, double-bagging (using one bag inside another) is frequently practiced.

Bags made from Biodolomer are different. To start with, they’re not plastic bags – they just look and feel like they are. Biodolomer is a compostable material based on limestone, patented in Sweden about 15 years ago.

Biodolomer granules can be used in almost all production techniques where plastic is typically applied: film blowing, thermoforming, extrusion coating, injection moulding, etc.

And it is particularly well-suited for bags of all kinds.

A Biodolomer grocery bag is strong enough to hold up to 25 lbs and can be reused up to 25 times. It is certified compostable both in the USA and the EU – meaning it transforms into nutrient-rich mulch, full of essential minerals, even in a home compost.

It does not produce any microplastics, and if incinerated, it results in around 80% less CO₂ than a regular plastic bag.

On top of that – when you use Biodolomer in your production, you get higher output and consume less energy compared to traditional plastic.Drop us a line and we’ll show you how Biodolomer can help make your packaging more sustainable.
